Students earning their Certificate
in Biblical Studies degree are required to take one semester
of internship. Students earning their Associates or Bachelor
of Biblical Studies degrees must complete two semesters of internship.
Internships require students to be actively involved with local
ministries. They give students the opportunity to see how ministry
plays out in real life. This is an indispensable part of the
training process.
- 112 hours (56 hours for Certificate students) must be completed
over the course of the semester.
- Must be within a theologically like-minded local church context.
- Must be approved by the Director of Student Life prior to
the beginning of the semester.
- Must be within an area of ministry that interests the student
for possible future ministry with a strong emphasis on discipleship.
At the
time of class registration set up an internship with a ministry
in your local church. When you register for you internship, submit
the internship
proposal form to the Director of Student Life
for approval (proposals will not be accepted after the end of
the second week of the semester). During the first week of your
internship, begin by meeting with your ministry pastor to clarify
your role and any specific goals or tasks for the semester. During
the last two weeks of your internship, have your ministry pastor
fill out your evaluation, make a copy for yourself, and turn
in the original to the Director of Student Life for official
completion of your internship.
Those already involved in ministry may use
their volunteer position as an internship. Those not yet involved
in ministry may pursue whatever area they desire at their local
church. If you would like help with finding a ministry,
please contact the Dean
of Students.
